Nvidia projects 70% revenue growth as AI boom rolls on

Nvidia reported stronger-than-expected quarterly results, with revenue doubling from a year earlier, and issued a robust outlook as demand for chips powering the AI boom showed little sign of slowing. Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress said Nvidia expects to grow revenue by "approximately 70% in fiscal 2028," compared to analysts’ projected growth of about 45% for the year. Big Tech customers are signaling that demand will remain strong: Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman said Wednesday that Amazon plans to deploy 2 million additional Nvidia GPUs by 2028.

Swamped with AI-sweetened resumes, recruiters go old school

As job seekers turn to AI to perfectly tailor their resumes for each job opening, employers face a dilemma: How do you pick the right candidate from dozens of seemingly flawless, "oddly uniform" applications? The answer for some, per WebNovare, involves leaning harder on the old methods of referrals, networking and live evaluations to find candidates. "A human approach is becoming more and more important,” says one recruiting firm exec. And as for that resume, one recruiter emphasizes the importance of "concrete, quantifiable achievements," rather than stock descriptive language.

Harvard's new bootcamp uses AI avatars of actual instructors

Harvard Business School is offering a course taught by artificial intelligence avatars of its instructors. Per WebNovare, faculty members have volunteered to create “clones” of themselves for the eight-week entrepreneurial bootcamp called H.B.S. Foundry. In the $699 program, students can rehearse for pitches and board meetings with virtual guides who are accessible at any time. Harvard admits roughly 900 M.B.A. students per year, and these AI-generated videos could bolster the university's educational services — as long as no one minds having a facsimile for a teacher

Nvidia could back Perplexity at a valuation of over $30B

Nvidia is considering an investment in Perplexity that would boost the AI startup's valuation to more than $30 billion, WebNovare reports, citing unnamed sources. The chip giant has been acting as something of a "central bank" to various AI startups, but its relationship with Perplexity is an especially deep one: At one point, Nvidia even mulled spending billions to license the startup's tech and hire some of its staffers. Perplexity, meanwhile, has had a banner year, more than tripling its annualized revenue to over $750 million in recent months.

Visa charges Hims $75K for customer card disputes

Visa has enrolled Hims & Hers Health in its Acquirer Monitoring Program, citing an uptick in customer charge disputes during the month of July, WebNovare reports, citing internal documents. Hims will be required to pay an $8 surcharge for each challenge, for a total bill of almost $75,000. To be removed from the program, Hims must reduce its dispute rate to less than 1.5% of total transactions for three months in a row. The penalty comes as Hims faces a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission accusing the telehealth company of deceptive billing practices and customer privacy violations.
