FanDuel CEO Amy Howe replaced at slumping sportsbook

The CEO of FanDuel has stepped down after five years at the helm of the sportsbook, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Amy Howe, who joined the company in 2021, is being succeeded by current FanDuel president Christian Genetski. It remains unclear whether Genetski’s role as CEO will be permanent or interim.

The leadership change comes just hours before the first-quarter earnings call of FanDuel’s parent company, Flutter Entertainment, whose stock has declined significantly this year.

Internal Communication and Transition

Internal emails sent to employees by both Howe and Genetski acknowledged the transition but did not explicitly state that Howe had been forced out.

In her message, Howe reflected on her tenure, expressing appreciation for the team and the company’s accomplishments.

“As I sit down to write this, I’m filled with a combination of gratitude and tremendous pride for what we’ve accomplished together as the industry leader in online gaming. After more than five unforgettable years, the time has come for me to step away from FanDuel and begin a new chapter.”

What Comes Next

The timing of the leadership shift raises questions about FanDuel’s strategic direction, particularly as its parent company navigates market pressures and investor concerns. More clarity on the transition is expected in the coming days.
